On December 5, 2017, the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Moldova held a reception on the occasion of the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan Akihito at a venue in Chisinau. The reception was attended by H.E. Minister of Education, Culture and Research Mrs. Monica Babuc, other Moldovan government officials and members of the Parliament. Representatives of business circles, cultural organizations, researchers and experts from various higher educational institutions as well as members of the Diplomatic Corps were also present.
In the beginning of the ceremony, the anthems of Japan and the Republic of Moldova were performed by a Moldovan opera singer. It was followed by the welcoming speech by H.E. Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Mr. Masanobu Yoshii, in which he commemorated the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Japan and Moldova this year and pointed out the recent steady and successful development of the relations between the two countries. The Ambassador also referred to the official development assistance provided by the Japanese Government as well as the expanding investment activities by the Japanese companies operating in Moldova, and reiterated strong commitment to further cooperate for the sake of economic and social stability of Moldova.
During the reception, a DVD film about Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress was played. The guests also had a chance to enjoy the Japanese flower arrangements ‘Ikebana’ made by a Moldovan master, as well as to taste the traditional Japanese sake.
