On March 7, Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Mr. Masanobu Yoshii and Foreign Minister of Moldova Mr. Galbur signed a grant agreement, according to which Japan provides 500 mln Japanese Yen (approximately 4.8 mln USD) grant for development of conservative agriculture in Moldova. Foreign Minister thanked Japan for its continuous support of Moldovan agriculture, healthcare, environment, culture, etc. Mr. Galbur noted that ‘Japan is a highly important international partner for our republic’ which over time provided assistance of over 150 mln USD, making it the 3rd most important development partner after US and EU. He adds that ‘the grant will also allow opening new jobs and give the young generation the possibility to remain in Moldova’.
Ambassador Yoshii confirmed that Japan is highly interested in Moldova's sustainable economic development, its fight against poverty. He also added that besides such grants, Japan is implementing several technical cooperation projects. He underlines that ‘Japan intends to develop relations with Moldova on the basis of universal values of democracy, market economy and rule of law’.
