Registration for the MIRAI 2026 program

Announcing the opening of applications for the MIRAI program, which promotes exchange and understanding of Japan.
The MIRAI program is a short-term exchange program launched by the Government of Japan in 2015, through which undergraduate, master's or doctoral students or young employees are invited to Japan.
The name of the program - MIRAI - means "future" in Japanese and stands for the initials of the following key words that define the objectives of this program:
Mutual Understanding, Intellectual Relations and Academic exchange Initiative.
 
The program aims to deepen participants’ understanding of Japan and its policy, to promote mutual understandings and thus build a basis for future friendship and cooperation between Japan and their regions. Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) hopes that the program will offer a great opportunity to

  1. Promote a deeper understanding of Japan’s economy, society, history, diverse cultures, politics, and diplomatic relations among participants,
  2. Foster supporters and experts of Japan,
  3. Strengthen public relations through proactive dissemination of Japan’s diplomatic policy and attractive points by participants,
  4. Strengthen relations between Japan and the participants’ regions, and build a basis for future friendship and cooperation
 
Program details
Participants from the Republic of Moldova can apply for one of the following sections/themes of the program:

(1) Pre-Program: Pre-departure training for all invitees
A. On-demand streaming of the MIRAI Program introduction video (October–November)
B. Joint Orientation: Lecture on understanding Japan for all groups (scheduled for November 7)
C. Pre-departure orientation (approximately two weeks before departure)

(2) Main Program (Invitation)
Theme: Economy and Business
Dates: December 2–8 (tentative)
Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students aged 20 or older

・Briefings at central government ministries and agencies
・Lectures and on-site visits to companies related to the theme
・Exchanges with Japanese universities
・Cultural experiences

(3) Follow-up (Online): For alumni and this year’s scheduled participants
A. Online alumni reunion with overseas business organizations (1 session)
B. Online discussion session with experts (1 session)
C. Online tour of Japan (approx. 10 days) (2 sessions)
Total: 4 sessions
