On October 27, at the Municipal Clinical Hospital for Children "Valentin Ignatenco" in Chisinau, the handover ceremony of the CT scanner purchased under the "Economic and Social Development Programme" took place. The Government of Japan has provided a grant of 100 million Japanese yen to the Government of the Republic of Moldova to strengthen the capacity of the public health system and improve medical services to the population.
 
At the ceremony, President of the Republic of Moldova, Ms. Maia SANDU spoke about the serious efforts recently made by the authority to modernize hospitals throughout the country and said the government would continue to make every effort to improve health services for Moldovan citizens.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Health Mr. Ion PRISĂCARU emphasized the Ministry's priority of equipping medical institutions with modern equipment and rehabilitating their infrastructure to provide quality, accessible and equitable medical services.
 
In his message, Japanese Ambassador Mr. YAMADA Yoichiro acknowledged the contribution of health workers in containing the spread of the pandemic and restoring life to what it was before 2020. The Ambassador also expressed the Government of Japan's willingness to cooperate with the Government of Moldova, supporting Moldova’s unwavering efforts of European integration.
